Setting up a server certificate

Click on the “Academic Login” button and select “University of Bayreuth” as your own institution under “Find Your Institution”.

Login to the IdP /Sectigo login service for members of the University of
Bayreuth with bt-identifier and password.

Select “Server” in the middle right.

Enter your domain name / computer name in the field below. Optionally, you can also enter a friendly name. Up to 20 entries per certificate are currently possible. Wildcard certificates are not issued.

Select which type of certificate is to be used - DV or OV. In addition to the domain names, the OV certificate also contains information about the organization in the certificate.

Confirm your data again in the overview and agree to the terms and conditions after you have read them.

In the next step, you can upload a CSR file or have a CSR generated. It is recommended to upload a CSR directly.

The certificate application is sent off and checked by a central office.
