At first you should contact the IT service centre via the ITS-Helpdesk. If you’ve a question, express a wish or if you have any problems – then you are exactly right with us!

Please contact us first. We’ll take your issue, try to find a solution quickly or forward your matter to a colleague. In any case we will consult with you in making decisions to ensure a common approach.

Remote maintenance (Teamviewer)Einklappen

We also support you with problems and troubleshooting via remote maintenance. This allows us - with your agreement - to view and control the user interface of your computer remotely as long as both sides have opened the remote maintenance program:

Important: In parallel this procedure is also always supported by telephone so you have the opportunity to ask questions at any time even if you and your computer are not physically present at our site!

You can’t cope with our departments or have problems/questions? The team of the Laptop Service will help you for sure!

Students only

The PC-Garage

Studying without computer? Inconceivably! If the digital attendant suddenly refuses the service a good advice can be expensive… For this reason the IT service center offers the free service of the PC garage for the students of the University of Bayreuth.

  • Stability problems of the computer
  • Excessive heat/ noise
  • Analysis and advice on performance problems
  • Advice on sources of hardware
  • Installation of spare parts
  • Technical support for hardware upgrades of laptops and desktops
  • Problems with external storage media (e.g. USB-Sticks, ext. hard disks, memory cards, ...)
  • Data backup of functional devices
  • Data recovery of inoperable devices and storage media
  • Problems with Malware (Viruses, trojans, ...)
  • Problems with software crashes

Unfortunately we can't edit the following list...

  • Equipment that can't be repaired at a reasonable expense to its age and/ or condition
  • Devices with pirated operating system
  • Problems with/ under Windows XP, OS X 10.4, Linux 2.6.32 or even older systems, BSD-Systems, Beta-Versions Server-operating systems
  • Problems with the operation of Office-Programs
  • Problems with special application programs
  • Smartphones, mobile phones and tablets or devices with iOS, Android, WebOS, Windows Phone, Windows Mobile, Bada, Symbian
  • Multimedia devices in general (e.g. iPod, digicam, PSP, ...)
  • Peripherals with hardware defects (e.g. monitors, printers, scanners, ...)
  • Damage caused by external influences (e.g. liquid/ fall and overvoltage damage, ...)
  • Problems with external internet access (e.g. DSL, UMTS, ...)
  • Problems with the internet in dormitories

"The small print"Einklappen

This offer isn’t a competition to commercial providers. Therefore only devices that are used exclusively or for the most part by a student of the University of Bayreuth can be edited. The employees of the IT Service Center decide individually for each problem whether a processing is possible or useful. The service catalog should only be a rough overview. Employees only provide locally personal advice and accept cases during the PC garage opening hours - telephone support isn’t available. The IT Service Center can’t guarantee success and can’t be made responsible for any data loss or damage. Necessary spare parts are only recommended for the procurement the students are responsible. The employees can’t also create surveys.


Event support

Your IT-Service center will be happy to assist you during meetings and events.

We take care of:

  • Provision of internet access,
  • Use of multimedia-infrastructure of the university,
  • Lending of multimedia devices and instruction in their use.

Please contact us as early as possible at tagungen@uni-bayreuth.de. Our form also supports you in the planning and inquiry of the media technology for your event.

Note:
Depending on the size and duration of your event we recommend the management of the event to provide the necessary assistance, which we will gladly instruct for you!
